Practice Cancellations due to Air Quality
Good Afternoon Dolphin Families,
While last night our air quality was still within an acceptable range for activity, today we hit was DEQ refers to as Code Red, classified as the "unhealthy range". Like Northern Virginia this morning, our area is rapidly moving through Code Red and projected to get close, if not into Code Purple, classified as the "very unhealthy" range tonight into tomorrow morning. In this range a Health Alert is issued stating the risk of health effects are increased for everyone, when outside. Please reference the attached chart below for range classifications.
The health and wellbeing of our swimmers and families are always our number one priority. With the rapid decrease in air quality and concerns for adverse health effects, we are cancelling practice for tonight AND tomorrow.
We hope the prediction of the jet stream shift holds true and improves our air quality over the weekend so we can see those happy swimmer faces next week!
Stay Safe Families!
