    Weather Policy

In general, assume practices and meets will be happening unless you hear otherwise. All of our activities take place outdoors, and sometimes the weather will not be ideal. If there is a weather safety issue, we typically take a wait and see approach prior to canceling or rescheduling.

Examples of situations where we may cancel practice or reschedule meets are largely safety related. Here is a partial list of things we may encounter and responses to those situations:

    • Thunder and/or lightning: leave the pool area for 20 minutes
    • Light to moderate rain: keep swimming
    • Extremely heavy rain: pause until the bottom of the pool is visible
    • Weather alerts that advise seeking shelter: seek shelter, leave the pool

Summer swim season is short. So, decisions to cancel or reschedule are not taken lightly. Again, in most cases we will attempt to wait out the weather concern.
